Getting Started with Medicare

Finding a genuine advocate who works for you long term can be a challenge in the world of Medicare, and unfortunately, has been for years. Many people, and often enough those on fixed incomes, find that they cannot afford the insurance itself, let alone the bills that come with obtaining medical services. Do we think these good folks could use an advocate? Absolutely!When considering Medicare Insurance Plans options, generally there are two schools of thought often coupled with emotion:Medicare is either a burden. A ball of confusion leading to frustration. OrMedicare is the greatest program ever that provides most everything that anyone could hope for!You deserve the latter! Do you know what the difference is? Sure you do. It’s who you have in your corner. It’s who you have on your side that you can pick up a phone and actually get answers. On the other hand, unfortunately, are those that don’t have an advocate and are constantly guessing through this Medicare maze by themselves which will rarely produce desired favorable outcomes, filled with surprises and learning curves that can indeed get very expensive, leaving folks in very bad positions at a minimum or possibly their health being compromised.  We are all well aware that there aren’t that many good surprises in healthcare, let alone in Medicare. So let’s do what is necessary, eliminating those obstacles and surprises up front going in. No one should feel all alone in Medicare. There are incredibly exceptional resources available for you. I am one of them. We can do this, I promise you!

What is Medicare?

Medicare is a health insurance program administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). With approximately 56 million Americans participating in this government program, and the Baby Boomer generation aging into Medicare at 10,000 folks a day for the next 10 years, Medicare is the largest health insurance service in the country. Coverage Types include Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, Medicare Part C, and Medicare Part D – Medicare Advantage, and Medicare Supplement Plans (also referred to as MediGap) which is also explained here!Jim Schmidt, with his talents and years of constant community outreach, has experiences in all capacities of plans, antidote solutions, fixing existing problems, and social determinants. Finally!! Can you answer yes to at least one of the following statements?
• I am 65 years of age or older.
• I am over 65 and I am now retiring or losing my Employer benefits.
• I am under 65, but I have certain disabilities.
• I have End-Stage Renal Disease (kidney failure that requires a transplant or dialysis).

If you answered yes to any of the above, then you may be eligible for Medicare benefits.

Medicare Part A

Part A is hospital insurance provided by Medicare. Most people don't have to pay a premium for this coverage. Pat A covers inpatient care in a skilled nursing facilities, critical access hospitals. Hostpice and home health care are also covered by Part A.

Medicare Part B

Part B is medical insurance to pay for medically necessary services and supplies provided by Medicare. Most on this plan will have to pay a premium to reveive this coverage. Part B overs outpatient care, doctor's services, physical or occupational therapists, and additional home health care.

Medicare Part C

Part C is the combination of Part A, Part B, and sometimes Part D which can be explained. The main difference is Part C is that it is provided through private insurance companies approved by Medicare. With this insurance program plan, you may have lower costs and receive extra benefits.

Medicare Part D

Part D is stand-alone prescription drug coverage insurance. Most people on this insurance plan have to pay a premium for this coverage. Plans vary and cover different prescriptions, but all medically necessary drugs are covered.  You can choose what drug plan will be best suited to your needs.

Cover Additional Expenses with Medicare Supplement.

Original Medicare Plans do not cover everything. Costs that may incur on your plans include deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, etc. These costs are called gaps. To help cover these costs, you may consider adding on a Medicare Supplement policy called Medigap. The Supplement Plans, also referred to as MediGap, is a consideration option that is part of Jim’s presentation in knowing your options.

Moving With Your Medicare:
It’s a well-documented fact that moving can be one of the most stressful undertakings we can put ourselves through. Wherever the destination, there are certain steps concerning this change that need to be proactively followed, including Social Security and of course, finding your new Medicare plan within the County or State starting your newest chapter. Many good folks are unaware of this, only becoming aware when it is too late. I am your resource here to avoid any surprise disruptions or gaps.
